Trail closing and sign removal:
Trail
Closing: Saturday morning April 5th we had a great turn out
for
the closing of the trails. 19+ members put in a great effort
in
pulling
markers and placing everything in storage. The workers
were:
Marc Matczak, George Engesser, Jim Johnson, Bob Hunt,
Mark
Sonney & son (Mark B.), Fred Morris, Tim Bowers, Ken Zambrzycki,
Chris
& Steve Curtis, Clay Fails, Ralph Eades, Steve Hair, Dale
Williams,
Regan
& Trey Tanner, Mark Omniewski & son (Mark) and Tom
Mack.
All
the work was completed in one day and Marc Matczak (Trail
Coordinator)
extends a hearty THANK YOU to all that came out to
help
(and hopefully we didn't miss anyone's name). A thank you
also
goes to Mike
Murdock for supplying new spools to store all
our
rope.

Special Grooming Raffle:
Since the old Yanmar didn't work so well during the
winter
months, and we couldn't afford to keep it and get something else, we
decided
to
sell it and shoot for a machine that was designed for winter trail
use. With this idea
and
a handful of brochures we are now looking to buy a brand new class B
snow
groomer.
These machines are not cheep and although we are attempting to
obtain
PA
grant money, we will still be obligated to come up with 20%
of the total
out
of our club account. To help raise funds for this out of
pocket cash, the club
has
decided
to sell raffle tickets that are based on the nightly daily
number.

winners.

Upcoming Events
April 19th, 2008 - Earth Day and road trash pickup
We'll be meeting at
9:00am at the Greene Township Building.
We will be needing
drivers and trash pickers. We will pick up trash
from along Wales Road and
Knoyle Road from Kuhl to Wales Road.
Anyone needing
information, please contact Fred Morris at 899-6307.
May 17th & 18th, 2008 - Greene Township Spring Cleanup
Where:
Greene Township Municipal Building
When:
9am till 2pm each day (or whatever time you
can help)
As you may or may
not know, the Greene Township makes
available the room we
meet in at no cost. Not having to pay rental
fees, allows these funds
to be applied to trail improvements. To
reciprocate and show
appreciation, we work with the township
supervisors and area
residents process their recyclables. It’s a
great time. Contact Steve
Hair (725-9313) to sign up and give a
hand on one or both days.

RMR Snocross Racing at Peek'n Peak
March
29th & 30th, 2008
For all those that missed
the races, you'll have to wait till next year.
Weather and racing were
great all day Saturday and Sunday, with
the finals on Sunday
providing plenty of action right to the last
race of the day.
RMR Racing did a fantastic job keeping things
moving. I can
hardly wait till next years races.
Much thanks to Off-Road
Express, Leisure Time, Peek'n Peak
and all others that made
this weekend of Snocross racing possible in the
area for those of us that
just can't get enough of sledding.

Charity
Drive
The
third and final collection for the area food pantry was taken.
It was the season of giving!
While
our membership number is small, their hearts are huge!
An additional $120 was collected
–
which brings the member’s donation to $275.
The club voted to kick in an additional $100 for a
grand
total of $375. Take
that number and double it with matching funds, makes the club’s
total
gift
to the Food Pantry - $750. Wow
! !
That is just great!
The club, along with the Food Pantry,
would
like to thank you for your generosity.
The Food Pantry will buy $17 of food with each dollar
donated.
So, the total charitable giving will provide $12,750 of food
for needy area residents.

Get ready for the new season with some great slightly used
sleds,
available in our classified section.
|
|
|
|
This is just a reminder
that our trail systems are mainly built on
private
land and to ensure that we don't
loose any trails due to
excessive
noise, please be sure to think about the type
of
modifications
that you are making to your sled and where you
are
gong to be riding it. Although
we do not have decibel
restrictions
here in our trails, if your sled is too
loud for the
land
owners, we loose the trail, which means you can't enjoy the
changes
that you made.
Special Notice
Riding
in the State Game Lands is forbidden except on
designated trails.
If
we do not stay on these trails, we may
lose
all of them, so please stay
on the trails!
