Wales Tales - September 2011 |
Well after a very wet Spring, our Summer this year turned out
very nice. The weather has just very recently starting to cool off to the
point we begin thinking of Fall activities. Hopefully you were able to enjoy
the Summer months to the fullest.
Being September, this marks the beginning of our seasonal membership meetings.
Please join us for our first 2011-2012 membership meeting on 9/22/2011 –
more details below.
General Trail Maintenance: Each Fall we perform annual general trail
maintenance where trails are walked, cleared of debris, brush-hogged and
cutback, as necessary, to make them ready for the upcoming snowmobile season.
This is where you can help. If you have a favorite trail section you are
familiar with and would like to work on, we would appreciate your help!
If you are interested in lending a hand this year to ready the trails, please
give Travis Clabbatz a call at 725-3730 or Rodney Bootes at 899-7871 and get
on the schedule. If they are not there, please leave a message.
Fundraisers: This Summer included our first ever Gun Raffle as a major
fundraiser of the club. Despite being our first one, we held a very smoothly
run raffle that many attendees commented positively on. The great food, great
prizes, great deserts, great turnout and wonderful participation all
contributed to helping us very successfully raise funds to support our club
and trail maintenance.
This was no small feat and we would like to thank everyone that helped or
otherwise supported our pulling this off, including those that sold or bought
their tickets, donated to the auction or theme baskets, helped at the raffle
or otherwise donated to the cause.
Club Support Program: Ski Doo’s "The Million Dollar Club Support
Program" is an easy way for us to raise some needed cash for expenses.
This is the third year that this program is being offered. Just like in past
years, your club will receive $10.00 from Ski-Doo for each entry form turned
in listing Wales as their club. While there is a limit of one form per member,
if you have multiple members in your household, please feel free to complete a
copy for each member. Each club is eligible for up to $1,500.00, so please
help us out again this year.
Please either visit Ski-Doo.com and click to learn more on the 2011 Club
Support Program or go directly to the form with this link:
http://en-us.ski-doo.com/clubsupport2011/Home.aspx
Once you fill out the online form they will send you your completed form in
the mail to take to your local dealer to turn in. If you do not have access to
a computer and do not receive this newsletter by email, we will try to include
a copy of the form with the next newsletter that you can then use to fill out
and drop off at your local dealership. The program ends this year on
11/15/2011, so please help us raise some funds again this year.
New Club Mailing Address: Please keep in mind that due to the closing
of the Wesleyville Post Office in the Erie area this Spring, we had to get a
new PO Box. Our new address since then has been PO Box 11283, Erie PA
16514-1283.
Club Equipment: You have not forgotten over the Summer about our new
UTV groomer have you? The use of the new groomer and our Ski Doo Skandic work
sled gave us very nice trails last season and we hope to have another
successful grooming season this time around.
We continue to be on the lookout for a second Ski Doo Skandic work sled unit
to add to our grooming workforce.
Sunshine Person: Mary Ann Matasowski is our sunshine person. If you
know of any of our members that have fallen ill, please contact Mary Ann at
(814) 825-2067.
Membership Meeting: Mark your calendars now for the first general
membership meeting of the 2011-2012 riding season – Thursday, September
22nd at 8:00 P.M. at the Greene Township Building on Tate Road.
Come catch up on all the details of issues facing the club as we head into a
new season and see all your fellow snowmobilers without their helmets. Lend
your support and input – see you at the meeting!

Post Gun Raffle meeting update: I just wanted to mention that we just
learned how successful our Gun Raffle was at our recent wrap-up meeting. Our
first ever Gun Raffle provided us with $9,700 in proceeds. This is an
astonishing amount, especially given that it was our first one. We will use
these proceeds to further our sport and allow us to keep improving and
grooming our trail system. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this a
success.
Please keep in mind that all the fundraisers we have contribute to our ability
to improve the experience of our sport. We are truly looking forward to a
great 2011-2012 season.
