Wales Tales - September 2009

Well, we have had a pretty wet Summer, but perhaps Fall will be drier for us. With Fall just a few days away, our thoughts return to trail work and planning for another enjoyable riding season.

General Trail Maintenance: We perform annual general trail maintenance where all trails are walked, cleared of debris, brush-hogged and cutback, as necessary, to make them ready for the upcoming snowmobile season. This is where you can help. If you have a favorite trail section you are familiar with and would like to work on, we would appreciate your help!

If you are interested in lending a hand this year to ready the trails, please give Mark Matczak a call at 796-6666 and get on the schedule. If he is not there, please leave a message.

Club Equipment: Our two work sleds were both in need of repairs at the end of this last riding season. Both sleds have since been repaired. As mentioned in the April newsletter, we anticipated the purchase of a newer and heavier duty grooming sled. We have made this purchase.

We purchased a 2008 Ski Doo Skandic worksled. It is currently being outfitted with the necessary hardware to pull our drags. This new worksled will be on display at this month’s membership meeting, so please plan to come to the meeting and check it out.

We can now plan to put one of our older worksleds up for sale. If we can successfully obtain an additional newer worksled, we will sell both of our older worksleds.

We are still planning to obtain the large trail groomer with our grant money, but as mentioned in April, this is now expected to take longer than originally anticipated and we wanted to update our equipment to bridge the gap.

Club Support Program: Please look at the attached fundraiser; “The Million Dollar Club Support Program” is an easy way for us to raise some needed cash for expenses. If you could please fill out the form and send it back to the club, we will forward them on for processing. Each returned form would allow your club to receive $10.00. There is a limit of one form per member, but if you have multiple members in your household, please feel free to return a completed copy for each member. The program ends on 11/15/2009, so please return soon!

Send completed forms to: Wales Sno-Drifters, PO Box 7223, Erie PA, 16510.

Membership Meeting: Mark your calendars now for the first general membership meeting of the 2009-2010 riding season – Thursday, September 24th at 8:00 P.M. at the Greene Township Building on Tate Road.

Come catch up on all the details of issues facing the club as we head into a new season and see our newest groomer sled. Lend your support and input – see you at the meeting!
