Wales Tales - February 2008 |
Snow? – Don’t blink! – Now you see it; now you don’t!
(Make use of when and where you can)
Membership Meeting:
On Thursday night, January 24th the membership meeting was held at the Greene Township Building. Attendance was only 15. Where are all the snowmobilers? Some in attendance even rode their sleds. The club took action to extend an offer to sale our large drag to the McKean Snowriders. Without the Yanmar, it is too big for any of our current groomers. Our nominating committee, Fred Morris & John Matasowski, is accepting names for your consideration at the elections to be held at the February membership meeting. We currently need three new board members and a new auditor. Your suggestions or recommendations should be routed to Fred (899-6307) or John (825-2067).Memberships:
The 2008 membership stands at 119 which includes 23 new members.Poker Run:
Memo from the President, Steve HairWell, we got Mother Nature to smile on us and finally supply enough of the 'white stuff' to let us have our Poker Run and what a success it was! You always worry about attendance if you have to go to the 'make up date' but this was not a problem. 118 poker hands were played and a great time was had by all.
Winners were:
1st place hand of 6- 9’s was won by Joanne Prae
2nd place hand of 4 Ace’s was won by Tim Johnson
3rd place hand of full house was won by Mike Matczak
50/50, was won by Wendy Farrell
(She donated half of it back to the club so it was actually a 75/25) Thanks Wendy!
I just wanted to say thanks to all who helped in staging this event; to Tom and Joe Dipko for being sure the grooming equipment was ready to go and grooming Friday evening and also to Dan Postlewaite, Kent Kessler, Chris Curtis, Mark Sonney and Marc Matzcak also logged hours on grooming.
Thanks to Kent Kessler, John Matasowski, Chris Curtis, Tom Mack, Bob Perry, Mark Sonney, Rob Tobin, and Ken Zambrzycki for helping to put on a great event. Also thanks to Jerry Johnson, Fred Morris, Mark Omniewski and Marc Matzcak for being ride leaders.
Thank you to all who helped and participated. It was a great day to show off our club. Here's to a bigger and better Poker Run in 2009.
Registration breakdown:

Trails:
Trails were in good shape with very few water holes (before 1/28). Now we will be basically starting all over again. Interested in assisting with grooming? Contact Mark Sonney 866-5241.Fund Raiser:
The lottery based fund raiser is moving along. Remember, these funds go directly to offset our 20% match against our groomer grant. 478 of the original 500 cards have been dispersed. 183 stubs and payment have been returned. Are you one of those still holding one of the remaining 295? Please don’t set on those cards! You now have less than a month to sell/buy those cards to have them included in the winnings. To be included in the potential winnings of $30 to $100 a day, stubs and payment need to be received back no later than February 28th.Next meeting:
The next membership is Thursday, February 28th at 8:00pm at the Greene Township Building. Don’t forget the election of new officers and president will be held. (As a reminder, the membership in attendance will also elect the club president for the coming year from one of the nine board members).
