Wales Tales - August 2006 |
How has your summer been going? For most members that I have had contact with, I would have to say things are quite busy for most. Are you getting ready for the coming winter snowmobile season? You haven’t had time to give it a thought. How strange. The prognosticators have predicted a warmer than usual winter. What do they know? These are the same guys that said that this was going to be another bad year for hurricanes.
While you have not heard from us for a couple months, your board has continued to meet monthly to perform the business of the club and work against our list of trial improvements.
In the spring, there were 16 potential trial improvements identified. These were ranked by priority and assigned to project leaders. To date, four projects have been completed.
The bridge on the gas line near Mark Road has been replaced with culvert pipe. The big water hole along the woods behind the Township Building has been filled.
Drainage from the first culvert pipe west of Jones Road was created and several yards of fill placed in the holes off Walter Kuhl’s field (where the groomer got stuck last year).
And just this past week two more drain pipes and quite a few more yards of fill were added to the Tate Road to Route 8 section.
Many of the other projects have been started. The larger and more important of these is the continued effort to improve the wet/mud area off the gas line parallel to Dutch Road. We are planning for a great snowmobile riding season; but will have to take whatever Mother Nature supplies. But, the trails will be better than they have ever been.
The Board has elected to change the membership year. In the past we tried to get interest in the snowmobile year started around the grass drags in September. Memberships and renewals started in September and ended in October. Now without the grass drags, we have shifted the membership drive closer to the actual snow season. The membership drive/renewal will now start in October and end at the end of November. Hope you enjoy your current 13 month membership.
The end of summer picnic will be held September 23rd, 2006 starting at 1:00pm at the home of Bob and Laura Johnson.
